Trump May Join Putin, Zelensky at Turkey Peace Summit

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has hinted at the possibility of attending a high-stakes peace summit in Turkey alongside Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin, as diplomatic momentum builds around ending the ongoing Ukraine-Russia conflict.
Speaking from the White House, Trump told reporters, “I’ve got so many meetings, but I was thinking about actually flying over there. There’s a possibility of it, I guess, if I think things can happen—but we’ve got to get it done.” His current travel itinerary includes stops in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar this week.
Ukrainian President Zelensky welcomed Trump’s potential involvement, calling his support for the meeting “important” during his nightly national address. Zelensky confirmed on Sunday that he had accepted President Putin’s proposal for direct negotiations and stated he would be in Turkey on Thursday, awaiting the Russian leader for face-to-face talks.
The renewed diplomatic push comes as Russia rejects a 30-day ceasefire deadline issued by European nations, which was backed by Trump. The Kremlin has dismissed the ultimatum as “unacceptable” and “unsuitable,” with spokesperson Dmitry Peskov warning that “using such language with Russia” is inappropriate.
Western leaders have threatened further sanctions if Moscow does not comply with the ceasefire demand by Monday, intensifying pressure on the Kremlin amid mounting calls for de-escalation.
